Parks to tackle water shortage

Freshwater is diminishing the world over and Pakistan is amongst the top water-stressed countries. In 1951, the water availability per capita in the nation was 5,260 cubic metres/year and in 2010 it was only 1,038 cubic metres/year, according to a Water and Power Development Authority report. Residents in urban areas probably do not realise how precious freshwater is because they have enough available for cooking and cleaning. But globally, there are about one billion people who do not have access to clean drinking water.

SDPI Organizing Lecture on Water Challenges in Pakistan on Tuesday!

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) is organizing a special lecture on water challenges and opportunities in Pakistan on Tuesday.

Associate Research Professor, University of Utah, USA Patrick Shea will deliver the lecture and Tariq Banuri, University of Utah, USA will be the moderator.

According to the United Nation, Pakistan’s population will rise to 263 million by 2050. It is still a serious challenge that how Pakistan will be able to manage water for agriculture, industry and human consumption in the coming years.

Water Awareness Walk held on "World Water Day-2016"

Karachi—There is a need of water reservoirs and dams in the country to meet our future needs and to save water for future survival.

This was stated by Chairman The Consumers Eye Pakistan (TCEP), Umar Ghauri while leading ‘Water Awareness Walk’ from Zainab Market Saddar to Karachi Press Club on occasion of the World Water Day 2016, This year’s theme is: Water and jobs. The walk was jointly organized by The Consumers Eye Pakistan-TCEP and Consumer Voice Pakistan, said a statement on Tuesday.

World Water Day is observed on 22nd March every year. It is focused to remind people about importance of fresh water and to encourage efficient management to sustainable water resources. It is a day to celebrate water. It is a day to plan for efficient management of fresh water for the people. The theme for 2016 is "Water and Jobs - Empowering Young Professionals".
