Tarbela Dam water level reach at ‘dead level’

Tarbela: Water level of Tarbela Dam on Sunday has reached on dead level of 1380 feet, disclosed daily report of the dam. It said that water level of the dam is very critical; water inflow in the dam was 24300 cusecs feet while the outflow was 30000 cusecs feet and if the situation persists the outflow would decrease.
Officials have shut down five power generation plants whereas only seven are producing 500 MW electricity. The working units are not producing electricity with full capacity.

Country to face dry spell till December, says PMD

ISLAMABAD:
An ongoing dry spell in the country is likely to persist till December, possibly causing an acute water shortage, the Met office said on Saturday. It has directed all concerned authorities, along with farmers and domestic users, to conserve water or risk severe water crisis in the near future.

Islamabad willing to go for water treaty with Kabul

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Water and Power (MoWP) has expressed its willingness to sign a water treaty with Afghanistan.“We have held many brainstorming sessions at the ministry on this particular issue after receiving credible reports about Afghanistan’s plans to build dams on Kabul River.

Some of Pakistan’s ambassadors appointed in various capitals have taken up this issue with the officials of the ministry and sometimes the Foreign Office also agitated this issue,” a top official of the ministry told The News.
