PIAF Chairman Malik Thair Javaid said here the government would be doing a great service to people of this country by initiating work on this mega project of national importance as a huge amount from the national exchequer had already been spent on this project.

The PIAF Chairman said that Kalabagh Dam was an excellent solution to power crisis but theprevious regimes shelved the project for unknown reasons.
He said that Pakistan could generate thousands of megawatts of electricity through coal and other resources as only because of shortage of electricity, foreign investment was not very encouraging.
He said the construction of Kalabagh Dam along with other new dams was desperately needed to adequate water. According to an estimate, about 30 million-acre-foot of water is being wasted into the sea because the country has no big water reservoir to store it, he added.—APP
